Soul x Maka ~I'll always be here part1
Maka sat on the couch. The screen of the tv was blank. She wasn't doing anything. Just sitting and thinking. The door of the apartment opened. There were footsteps. "Hey Maka! I'm back!" Maka was broken from her trance as she recognized the voice. Soul. Her partner walked into the tiny living room and sat beside her on the couch, cradling her in his arms. "What's going on in the life of the most beautiful girl I've ever met?" Soul kissed her cheek. "Oh, life." Maka giggled and shoved him playfully. She wasn't very giggly, unless with Soul. She always laughed around him. Soul made a face. "Why've you gotta be like that?" He said playfully. "Because I just do!" She smiled and kissed him back. She curled up against Soul and rested her head on his shoulder, embracing Soul's warmth.
Soul's fingers searched for Maka's warmth in his sheets the next morning. There was no one there. Sighing sadly, Soul payed back and turned over on his back. Staring at the ceiling, hands behind his head, Soul thought about how, so far, he and Maka were so far getting along. He thought about how, when they first became partners, Soul would have thought it appalling to be in love with Maka. Now, he could think of no one he'd be happier with. He heard clattering in the kitchen. Checking his alarm clock, it read eight-thirty o'clock. Soul slipped out of his bed, staring at the reflection of himself in his mirror. Stretching his arms, his muscles flexed. His scar made him jolt, reminded of the extreme pain as the demon sword had sliced open his chest. He remembered the looks of pain and remorse that crossed Maka's face when she looked at the scar. Pulling on a t-shirt, Soul stumbled sleepily out of his bedroom, ruffling his already messy white hair, and slumped into the kitchen.
Maka was busy cooking breakfast, not realizing the presence of another person. Sneaking up behind her, Soul covered Maka's eyes with his hands and whispered, "Guess who?" "Who else?" Maka giggled in reply, turned around, and kissed him. Soul smiled and wrapped his arms around her waist as Maka continued to cook. "Smells delicious!" Soul inhaled deeply at the scent of sizzling bacon, his stomach snarling in protest of its lack of food. "Okay, okay. Lucky for you, it's almost done!" Maka teasingly pinched Soul's nose. "Ow." Soul teased, his voice sounding squeakier. Maka smiled.
Maka and Soul both raced down the court, passing the basketball to one another. "Maka! Shoot!" Kid called from the other side. Soul passed Maka the ball, and Maka shot from where she stood. With a swish, the ball went in. "Yahoo!" Maka cheered, high-fiving Soul, Kid, and Liz who were all on her team. Maka "good gamed" Black Star's team of him, Tsubaki, Patty, and Crona. "That was fun!" Maka sat, cross legged, laughing with her friends as they all chugged down their bottles of water. She cast a swift glance at soul who was smiling, and gave her a wink. Maka giggled and winked back. "He's such a dork." She thought to herself, smiling.
Soul sat on the bus home, Maka sleeping on his shoulder. Tsubaki and Black Star were both asleep, leaning against each other. Liz and Patty were both wrapped in a blanket, while Kid stared out the window. Soul stroked Maka's beautiful blond hair, ruffled by their basketball game. She murmured cutely in her sleep. Soul lay his hand on Maka's bare shoulder, and pulled up her tank top strap that'd slid down her shoulder. She stirred slightly and mumbled, "Soul..." In her sleep. Soul smiled. He loved Maka more than anyone in the world. He knew he made the right choice in loving Maka, now he would prove it. Leaning close to her ear, he whispered, "I promise, I'll always be here, and never leave you." He kissed her forehead, and stared out the window. Without Soul noticing, Maka gave a small smile and thought, "I know you will."
